Volker is our warm-hearted, relaxed connoisseur that loves to share a dram and a story. Being the senior to the other three members, his love for whisky started when Karuizawa didn’t break the bank and single cask bottlings weren’t a thing. His taste is well varied with a slight inclination to the peaty side. Favorite distilleries: Glendronach, Bunnahabhain und Talisker
Andrew is our cheeky Aussie whose tasting notes often are scaringly accurate one liners. Well able to indulge in the joys of life, there is always chance for a well timed taste of his quick wit. Originally from Melbourne, he has lived in Munich for years and become a fully fledged German in many ways. Favorite distilleries: Caol Ila, Caol Ila and Caol Ila
Max is our Whisky Nerd and voice to the outside world. You want to talk whisky, talk to him. He has great joy in sharing whisky and its stories and everything Scotland. Max (along with Volker) is the biggest advocate for unpeated whiskies within VAME, but his love for a good peated whisky is almost as big. Favorite distilleries: Glengoyne, Laphroaig, Strathisla
Ege is our peat head! If a whisky is peaty, he will probably like it, but he will also be able to find nuances in peated whiskies others don‘t, and he does enjoy a good Speyside or Highland whisky too. Originally from Istanbul, he is a source for good stories, always up for engaging discussions. Favorite distilleries: Bruichladdich, Ardbeg, Bunnahabhain
